chrysler/fiat

"The Italian automaker won't put any money into the deal but will give Chrysler billions worth of small car and engine technology."

i'm fascinated by the above statement regarding fiats deal with chrysler. if you want a few more details: THE DEAL MADE IN HEAVEN (OR HELL)

so fiat is giving chrysler billions of dollars worth of small engine technology.

firstly, i find it hard to believe that chrysler didn't know how to build a small engine. i guess they were even stupider that i thought if this is true. something tells me that they knew how to build a small engine. even if they didn't, who would want the technology of the lowest rated auto manufacturer? not me.

here's where i get confused. several years ago chrysler merged with mercedes benz to create DaimlerChrysler. so chrysler was aligned with one of the highest rated manufacters that came out with the smart car several years ago. since chrysler and mercedes were partners i would have to assume that chrysler was privy to mercedes small engine technology. or was chrysler so feckin stupid that they accepted a handful of magic beans rather than mercedes technology and quality.

something tells me that toyota and honda aren't losing any sleep over the chrysler/fiat deal.

i might be wrong in some of the above conclusions.

feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

i love you sons of bitches.

Wow. I never knew there were billions of dollars worth of small engine technology!

I walked outside and looked at my clown car's small engine. Wonder what it's worth?

I did contract work for Daimler during the time they split from Chrysler. Daimler was tres brilliant in getting out while they could. As far as I could tell (but then again I worked in the large vehicle (e.g. semitrucks & buses) division) the Mercedes brands and the Chrysler brands fell under the "never the twain shall meet" philosphy.

ananda - tie some broccoli to the clown engine and sell it to the obama team. i understand they're going green.

rocky - you mean those lousy germans wouldn't share their secrets? i don't trust germans with secrets.

yellowdog - it seems they're running out of people to scalp. how many times can you scalp the same sucker?

Maybe Fiat has flying car technology!
That would be worth billions.
They could call it a Fiat-Flyer.
Chrysler-Cloud Hopper?
Dodge Hornet?

Cars in Italy are very small, a lot smaller than those German small cars, so Americans will find out the roads are now way too big.

Just what we need: more dangerous flimsy cars that are too small to hold anything.
