cash for clunkers.....

part of the cash for clunkers deal is to save the enviroment by getting people to drive cars with better gas mileage.

here's how you can save even more energy.

keep the car you already own.

the amount of energy it takes to produce a new vehicle, extracting the ore, refining it, transporting it, producing rubber, electronics etc all consume energy. lots of it.

i hadn't thought of this before but it makes a lot of sense. but we live in a society based on over consumption and growth at any cost.

old cars rock!

They could have just stopped making cars after they came out with the 1957 Ford T-Bird with the porthole top,and the world would be a better place today!

I'd love to have a VW Bug again... one of the originals, not the phony new ones. They weren't that great on gas, but not bad either and let's face it, they last forever, like cockroaches with a little care.

Maybe we should walk or bike and drive only when the distance or emergency demands it.

Stop being my echo, I've been saying that for some time. I drive my rigs until they have to go to the recycle yard.

Even my 1964 Chrysler 300 convertible.

sling - i love those cars! i'm amazed watching classic car auctions when 70's barracudas and demons sell for way more than old t-birds.

yellowdog - 56 was a very good year.

ananda - no maybes! aren't you already walking and biking short distances?

bbc - is it great minds thinking alike or fools seldom differing??

sage - i'm still on the same tank of gas from mid june.

Much as I'd love a Prius, I'll likely run my little Mazda into the ground. But it's prety fuel efficient, so that's okay.

Cool! I was glad not to see George Lopez jumping up and down, but a little sad not to see his wife jumping up and down.

i have always loved that song. thank you for sharing it.

i had not thought about the silliness of cash for clunkers in the light you just shed.

nothing new under the sun, i guess is a good way to look at our administration.
