it's all in the name

last night i found a little clarity in the health care debate.

while channel surfing i came across some guys debating health care reform. they were all spewing the usual rhetoric and towing the party lines then one guy used a term that i hadn't heard before but instantly fell in love with.

MEDICAL INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

after world war 2 dwight eisenhower warned against the military industrial complex and turned out to be prophetic.

those against health care reform might reconsider their opposition to reform if they thought of the status quo as the medical industrial complex.

remember:

the medical industrial complex with fuck you ad infinitum if allowed just as the military industrial complex does in search of profit.

i love you sons of bitches

Any system that is desigend to keep the wealth with the waelthy is bound to be corrupt.

ananda - it's my 18th favorite song.

yellowdog - i'll bet you have a code to live by.

sling - i think the only way they'll go along with reform is if they can make even more money.

secret - it's taken decades if not centuries to build the system so it might be wishful thinking to undo it in a few years.

The Medical Industrial Complex has one major thing going for it, they know we can't boycott them. One small group tried, they're all dead now.

Billy - this is at the heart of the matter - thanks for getting there.

The video made me cry.

went from being disgusted by the world around me to just being darkly amused by it.

Maybe that makes me part of the problem, but really, do you truly think this world could ever be fixed? Is any form of utopia or heaven really plausible with a species that can bring forth a Da Vinci or an Einstein, but can also give birth to a future junkie that feeds his kid to his dog for crying too loud?

That's why I don't worry too much about the health care debate. You can reform it all you want, but someone will eventually be in charge of the new system, and they will benefit from said new system at someone's expense. Why? Because as always, human nature will prevail, sometimes for the good, but most times for the worst.

rev - well put.

finding a system that will satisfy 307 million humans is gonna all the king's horses and all the kings men.

hey wait a minute, they couldn't even put humpty dumpty back together again.

Hm? Wonder what you are referring to?

I know lots of people who refuse to buy drugs or go to the hospital or anything like that. There's never any government agents beating down their door.
