jobs

is it just me or is the term JOBLESS RECOVERY a classic oxymoron.

how in the feck can anyone say there is a recovery taking place when jobs continue to disappear?

the numbers aren't pretty:

1950's
Population Growth = 11,516,000
Employment Growth = 7,215,000 (62.65%)

1960's
Population Growth = 19,449,000
Employment Growth = 13,862,000 (71.27%)

1970's
Population Growth = 30,811,000
Employment Growth = 21,224,000 (68.88%)

1980's
Population Growth = 20,865,000
Employment Growth = 17,685,000 (84.76%)

1990's
Population Growth = 21,667,000
Employment Growth = 16,998,000 (78.45%)

2000's (to Mar. 2009)
Population Growth = 26,254,000
Employment Growth = 5,137,000 (19.57%)

According to my research, in about the 1960's. And I don't really have any problem with globalization.

As for the difference between the rich and the poor, it's going to be the same old cycle where the poor start killing the rich again, it's happened many times in the past.

By most (American) standards I'm poor and get by on less than a grand a month. Yet still have a little to help others with, someone is doing something wrong and I don't think it is me.

May we live in interesting times.

bbc - i like chinese stuff so globalization doesn't bug me too much but i'm not in the manufacturing racket so my job wasn't outsourced and i'm old enough not to worry about being made redundant.

india got it's first call centre in the 90's and there's been no looking back.

OUTSOURCE INDIA

Looks like something happened in the 2000's.
"Jobs?" "We don't need no stinking jobs!"

bbc - with 1.15 billion people you only need a small percentage with brains to take skilled jobs from the west.

tex - yer right, obama's socialism has made jobs redundant.

Some interesting info there Billy, and kinda scary too. I wonder where the jobs are going to come from or maybe society will realize staying home with your kids is not such a bad thing. I know not everyone can do it but I think a lot of our problems stem from the breakdown of the traditional family. Being raised by your parent instead of a TV or daycare I think makes a big difference.

Well, ya know, I get by just great on less than twelve grand a year, so I guess I'm doing something right. My world has never revolved around money that others think they need.
