dalai lama

the traveling medicine show is in vancouver this week. the dalai lama has a cure for everything that ails a person. the cheapest ticket is $148 for a tuesday morning session. there's lots of money in buddhism these days. it's billed as a peace conference but make no mistake about it, it's the dalai lama show.

i'm not a big fan of the old lama. it would be my guess that the traveling road show selects all stops based on revenue potential. when the last time the lama gave a lecture in butte montana??

it is my opinion that buddhism is no different than any other religion, it's a money and control racket with those at the top making a fortune. if anyone just fell off the turnip truck and thinks the dalai lama and his buddhism racket is as pure as the driven snow take a look at the facts:

Friendly Feudalism: The Tibet Myth

it's a long read but the facts are interesting.

jobs

is it just me or is the term JOBLESS RECOVERY a classic oxymoron.

how in the feck can anyone say there is a recovery taking place when jobs continue to disappear?

the numbers aren't pretty:

Employment Growth = 7,215,000 (62.65%)

1960's

Employment Growth = 13,862,000 (71.27%)

1970's

Employment Growth = 21,224,000 (68.88%)

1980's
Population Growth = 20,865,000
Employment Growth = 17,685,000 (84.76%)

1990's
Population Growth = 21,667,000
Employment Growth = 16,998,000 (78.45%)

2000's (to Mar. 2009)
Population Growth = 26,254,000

in which decade do you think globalization really started to catch on????

war, terrorism, ecological degradation and economic collapse.

snoring, farting, belching and slurping.

no i'm not referring to the lovely mrs myshkin.

i had to rearrange the rec room to get a little more distance between me and the new tv. as luck would have it i'm now about 3 feet away from ruby's sofa. ruby and i each have our own sofa and have come to an understanding. i don't go on her sofa and she doesn't go on mine.

now that i'm right beside ruby i can hear all the noises she makes while sleeping. in the past i was about 25 feet away from her and the noises were funny but now they are a little intrusive. she snores like crazy and then wakes up to fart and belch. after farting and belching she grooms herself. i'm not sure if she's giving herself pleasure or just has excellent hygiene but there's a lot of slurping going on behind me. i'd give a few fingers to be able to sleep and snore like her. she can wake up take a look around and be snoring again in less than a minute.

it is really feckin hot here today. i gave my dad's gutters a blow job and i'm sweating like a pig.

gutters

i painted a dorimer on the roof this week. i thought it would be a nice easy job, boy was i wrong. it was in a state of total disrepair but being up on the roof it was difficult to see all the paint flaking off. the slope of the roof made it a tough job. i kept sliding down the roof so i had to brace myself with my poor old legs. spending 3 hours using leg muscles ain't easy. there were chunks of old paint everywhere and i didn't want to get them in my storm drains so i got the old leaf blower and blew them off the roof.

a few slid into the gutters so i decided to blow them out. it worked like a fecking charm. not only did the paint chips disappear, so did all the pine needles and other shit that had been accumulating all summer. i went all the way around the roof in about 10 minutes and now have totally clean gutters. using the ladder and a scoop would have taked several hours of tough dirty work.

if you have dirty gutters, give them a blow job.

on a separate note, i watched part of the office last night. i think it has run its course and should be put out of its misery. the first season i laughed out loud quite often. the second season i laughed out loud a few times. last season i didn't laugh out loud at all but still watched it quite often. last night it was painful to watch. it's now in that stale stage where it's living off its past glory in my opinion.

i love that fiddle playing son of a bitch.

divine guidance....

recently i signed up for daily horoscopes and tarot readings. i like them.

unfortunately i've ran into a little problem. occasionally the spiritual guidance from these two sources of inspiration is in conflict. the horoscope may say that the stars are lined up very nicely for me and love is in the air. on the other hand, the tarot cards may say that my love life will be in the crapper and i better curl into the fetal position avoiding all contact with the ladies. what to do?

help

a laundry question:

should a white t shirt with red sleeves be washed with the dark or the light colored clothes? i just can't figure it out.

busted!

the cops are after ruby again. it seems she got a wee bit too agressive with a mailman. there were no witnesses so they took the mailman's word over ruby's word. the result is our mail service was cut off. the bullshit part is the post office didn't tell us that they had discontinued delivery. after no mail for a few weeks i called and asked; "where's my feckin mail???" they took a bunch of info from me and said they'd investigate. it took 4 fucking business days for them to tell me about ruby and the cessation of service.

in order to get delivery reinstated i had to go to the post office and sign a bunch of papers promising to keep ruby under lock and key. ruby is lucky these dickheads don't share information with the animal control people.

i can now add mailmen to my official asshole list.

the can racket

this was a poor year for can collecting. i think the total haul year to date is about $350. i was concentrating more on exercise than profit this summer so i passed on most of the beer bottles in the park. also my favorite park came up dry this year. the young drinkers must have found a better place to get shit faced most nights. not once did i did i find a huge mess in that park with dozens of beer cans waiting for some enterprising old man to cash in. poor little ruby missed on too. usually the utes leave lots of food. ruby loves a slice of pizza or a sub sandwich in the morning.

a few days ago i found 10 full cans of beer. it made my dad real happy. the big finds this year were the weights and 2 tennis rackets, prince titaniums. i'm wearing a nice pair of adidas sneakers found at the skate board park. i'll be heading to my favorite store later this week to turn some of the loot into medicine.

the angels head back to university tomorrow so i'll be able to catch up on my naps as long as the prick next door doesn't decide to cut his lawn around noon.

i love you sons of bitches.

labor day

is the labor movement dead???

i don't know if it's dead but it's certainly on the decline. i was going to do some research and come up with some nice tables and graphs showing the decline of unions but it was just too much work. i'll trust my gut and say unions are losing their clout and it doesn't look like things are going to turn around any time soon.

basically i'm pro union but my good buddy deepak chopra says it's bad for your health to defend a position. odds are most people have strong views on unions and it's next to impossible to change their minds. perhaps if conditions change some people may change their minds.

so here's the labor day poll:

lost

try as i might, i just couldn't get into lost. i tried several times but it just wouldn't take. then i ran across the dvd's in the library. god bless dvd's.

i've been a busy boy. in the past few weeks i've watched season 1, season 2 and half of season 3. i like the stuff on the island but some of those flashbacks to develop the characters are a pain in the arse. that's probably why i couldn't be bothered watching in on tv.

a few nights ago an episode brought a smile to my face. that isn't easy these days.

there's just something about old vw vans that make me smile. i've also recently started watching the lone gunmen. it makes my day watching the boys hop into the old vw van and head down the road.

i'm a big melvin frohike fan these days.
