gung hay fat choy

today's the big day! chinese new year!

this is a big day in myshkinville. all things begin anew and superstition abounds. i'm expected to observe a few customs. all cleaning is supposed to be done in the days preceding new year so the house is clean and there is no cleaning to be done on new years day. apparently it washes away good karma. this includes laundry and washing hair.

there is to be no discord in the house today. if the year starts off with discord in the house, then the house will have discord the rest of the year.

there is also a ton of food. in most chinese occasions food plays a large part. ruby feckin well loves chinese new year.

do these rules apply to billy pilgrim?

absolutely not!

will i wash my hair today?

take a feckin guess

I don't pay any attention to all that Chinese, or all the other crap the monkeys dream up.

Nice link.

I wash my hair on Sunday, before going to church. *Snorts*

Hope you not stinky long time. Love you long time anyway though.

I liked the link.
We think everything we do is so important but to the universe, we're all equally insignificant.

Well, shit.

I'm fucked, as there was chaos in my house today, namely the end result of the Rev chasing down the irritating 8-month old tabby cat that wouldn't let him sleep. It involved water, a sink, screaming, and a cat that looked like it was going to drop a turd on the floor.

Looking forward to 2008....

Crap!..I washed my hair before I read this.
I know it's probably common knowledge, but what year is it?..You know, year of the snake,or rat?..or some other venomous vermin?

Gung hay fat choy to you.
I wash my hair every day. It's gotten to be a little more work since I haven't had a haircut in two years.
Clean the house? I do a lot of laundry but I don't do much cleaning.
I need to dig out the carpet cleaner soon though.

bbc - you better be careful when the chinese take over.

kali - i no stinky, took nice shower. love you long time and smell good too.

tex - the universe rocks

rev - tell the cat that you're going to take it to a chinese restaurant for dinner.

sling - she'll just tell you that she came in the year of the rat. sounds better than the year of the cat.

yellowdog - i love being a child of the universe with clean hair.

mr wit - two years without a hair cut! i wish that i had that much will power. put on sandals and a robe, people might toss money at you on sundays.

We'll just have learn to speak Chinese. Or hide in the forest, lots of forests here.

i thought that it was smart of david letterman to point out that this year is the year of the rat and it coninsides with election year...

bbc - i started kissing their ass 23 years ago. i'm gonna be a little pissed if that doesn't get me on the good side of the ledger.

yellowdog - i still have 2 baited rat traps in the yard. it might be time to check them out, maybe i've caught a real bushy little rat bastard.

Is it the year of STALIN?!?

BBC said...

Fuck it, I'm not kissing anyones ass. I'll hide in the woods before I do that.

This old county boy knows how to get along just fine out there and be okay in a peaceful place.

I lived a lot of my youth in the mountains alone, it was good.

woozie - stalin lives!
