i've finished watching deadwood for the 5th time and my life is empty! it started in october, watching about 15 minutes each evening before going to bed. i can't wait until the fall to start watching it for the 6th time.
now the challenge is to find another series to cap off each evening. i'm open to suggestions.
a few weeks ago i watched "serenity" and that stimulated the firefly memories locked deep within my old brain so i'm half way through firefly at the moment. they say that time and luck are the two big movers and shakers in our universe. luck is the only reason i can think of that accounts for the fact that battlestar galactica became so feckin popular and firefly was cancelled after one season when in my mind firefly is a truly superior show. i think a bunch of snooty tv critics convinced people that battlestar had some social relevance and it became acceptable for respectable, snooty people to admit they watched it. battlestar was good but firefly was excellent.
i must have been hit by some gamma rays whilst riding the iron maiden and collecting empty beer cans (i collected 45 cents this morning) because like howard in the "mighty boosh" the jazz spirit within me has awakened. right now i'm going through a chet baker phase.
have you ever talked to the trees? it can be quite relaxing.
i love you sons of bitches.

I don't talk to trees, I just enjoy camping amongst them. I apparently fucking enjoy talking to myself. :-)
Don't suppose I'll watch Deadwood again but Rick lent me the first season so Terry can watch it.
Jane sent me the first two seasons of Dexter and she doesn't want them back so when I'm done watching them I can send them to you if you want them.
So far I'm not really getting into Dexter, not as interesting to me as those Deadwood cocksuckers was.
As for your comment on my blog.
Appears to me that natural gas in china is free if you have a plastic bag.
And a woman to pack it for you.
LOL
Come to think of it, there is a shortage of women in china, maybe they should rethink that, don't want a shortage of gas bags to pack your gas bags.
LOL
I have been thinking all day that I want to get "Six Feet Under" and watch that series again. I like Dexter too.
Firefly I have watched several times. I don't get tired of seeing it. I agree that it was superior to BG.
I would like to get what they made of "Carnivale" but every time I think about how they just stopped filming it at a critical point, I get really pissed off at HBO. I could go on a rant about it, but I won't.
I am overly fond of The Lorax... who as you know "talks for the trees". I talk to just about anything, trees included.
Lovely song! You have such good taste billy.
bill, i'll pass on dexter. i really like his sister deborah but i'll always think of dexter as that gay guy on six feet under.
silly - six feet under is on my list to watch again if for nothing else to see the ending. best finale i've ever seen when they show how the characters all age and pass away. i'm going to watch carnivale again. the first time i was following the plot, this time i'll just absorb the experience. i think chet baker's album "chet" is one of the top 20 albums ever produced. shit, maybe top 10!
I never got into battleship what ever..and watched serenity and loved it..missed firefly but heard it rocked..
when I was married to asshole #1 I got my first introduction to jazz..and although I don't like it was well as old rock and roll, I do love it..I remember one song that was called Barks for Barksdale? something like that..and had the greatest drum solo of all times..
If only trees could talk back to you. I prefer to rub my butt against them.
I liked "V".
Sometimes in the fall I talk to trees
"Hey, you fukin trees, stop shedding!"
holy crap, i spend a few minutes talking to the trees and someone at google changed things around.
yellowdog - i didn't like jazz in my younger days because i didn't hear the good stuff. there's a lot of jazz that gives me a headache.
gb -but the trees do talk to me with the correct medication.
tex - i did like watching the leader eat rats but they spent too much time on sucky family.
Woof! Woof! I hate Blogger.
Don't know much about Deadwood.
I have so much old teevee to catch up on. I'm watching reruns of My Mother the Car.
Beats listening to Little Ricky Santorum talking about his Jesus Hardon.
Hugs.
Beats listening to Little Ricky Santorum talking about his Jesus Hardon.
Yeah, I prefer talking about my hardon.
*snickers*
shaw - here's hoping little ricky goes down in flames tonight and newt rises from the ashes. i'd rather listen to newt going to the moon than little ricky whining and preaching.
bill - how's the weather?
I've been watching "Lie to Me" and "Numb3rs." Both really good.
We got a Roku and have been burning through "Mad Men" which we ABSOLUTELY LOVE. But, we are toward the end of the last season and already going through withdrawal at our expectation of the end.
I really liked "Deadwood" (my Dad was born and grew up there). But my wife doesn't like the series, too violent I think.
Anyway, we are going to be hungry for something to replace "Mad Men" when we finish the season. [sigh]
secret - lie to me is kicking around the nether regions of my mind. one of these days.
robert - roku? i'd never heard of it until now. i just bought blue ray player that does that streaming stuff but i'll never use it for that. i bought it for the usb port to play music.
Yeah Roku, a small streaming device you hook to your TV. It connects through your wireless internet router to stream from your Netfilx, Hulu, TED and other accounts. I just learned that some Blu-Ray devices do that as well but though there is some channel overlap, they don't both stream from the same networks.
dude, you really have to link your blog on networked blogs so I can read you on feckbook!
robert - i'm waiting for my son to come back to town and fix things up for me.
rocky - i don't know how. surprised?
I agree, Battlestar was a bit tedious, and after the first few episodes I lost interest. However, Firefly WAS and IS far superior in the fact that it was a bit more mindless entertainment. And it had Summer Glau in it who is undoubtedly a TOTAL hawtie. I could eat her for dessert.
And frankly, I don't want to "unwind" by taxing my brain trying to keep up with a serious on television fercrissakes. T.V. is not my first entertainment choice anyway. Nature is. Such as trees; who despite my best efforts do not strike up conversations, nor do they respond to questions. Once I thought I was having a conversation with a Redwood and I realized that it was a pair of squirrels getting it on up in the foliage. Oh well, I suppose I had better up my medication.
I'd like to see the Deadwood collection. Do you have time right now to write down every episode of that show and the plot summary for every one, plus reviews and description of any outtakes?
Take your time. Meanwhile, I'll twiddle my thumbs and dream of a firefly named Tinkerbell paying me a visit. And then I'll furiously fap.
