anyone want a good deal on some german silver?
a strange beam of light shone through my bedroom window a few weeks ago and the next morning i had an uncontrollable urge to seek russian coins on ebay. i had never used ebay before so it was all new to me. i found one really cool russian coin but some nogoodniks outbid me with about 5 seconds left. so it goes. a few days later i purchased what i thought was a 3 coin package of russian coins but when it came time to settle i learned it was only one coin so i had to tell some prick in estonia to go fuck himself. he reluctantly voided the deal.
then one morning i saw what i thought was a good deal on some silver ingots. they were advertised as german silver .999 fine so i put in a bid and was successful. then i read the fine print and learned that there is no silver in german silver so once again i told the seller to blow me. it was a big scam so i was pretty confident that he would acquiesce. and once again i was released. big whoop. the last few days i've been looking at the bids on german silver and some of that shit is selling like hotcakes. obviously the good folks at ebay are aware of this little scam and are content to collect their commission.
this german silver is an alloy of copper, zinc and nickel which makes me wonder how they can advertise it as .999 fine. i did manage to successfully bid on a cool item and actually pay for it and now i eagerly await delivery. it's something i've wanted for a long time and without a doubt i'll put it to good use. if anyone can guess what it is they will receive one troy ounce of german silver.
i was so distraught at learning there might be some skullduggery on ebay that i had to make an emergency trip to the fish store. i look forward to carnivale tonight!
i love you sons of bitches.

I just buy Roosevelt and Mercury dimes. No muss, no fuss. Usually under spot. Currently each is worth around $3, so a couple will buy lunch from a like-minded fellow.
But after the econocalypse they'll be worth $30 each! Think of all the sandwiches I'll be able to buy with a roll of 50!
I have a few guesses on what it might be but I am going to go with a nice accessory for your bike. eBay can be quite fun. Kyle's railroad empire came by the way of eBay. I am glad you didn't get hosed by those German silver bastards.
thims - $2.38 silver content at today's close. i never met a coin i didn't like.
mr shife -speaking of bike parts, i got some bad news on the iron maiden today, she needs a new drive train! i might take her behind the garage and shoot her.
Aw it dipped back down again... maybe I should buy more.
I'm betting you got another playbook for $20...
thims - canadian silver maple leafs, cougars etc are going for $42-$45 on ebay and they can be picked up for about $36.50 at the bullion exchange. if my kids were little this would be a good exercise in capitalism. it might be a nice project for atticus.
an american gold coin.
I'd never buy metals or coins over the internut but if you would like to bid on them I have a US 1987 Liberty silver dollar and a 1989 Loony that is gold in color.
I have no idea if they have any value over face value.
So how do you feel about your Sears store closing?
My favorite thing to invest in is gun powder, when it becomes hard to get it'll be worth a fortune.
Yup.

At least two or three, shouldn't you be the one selling the sandwiches?
There's nothing tastier than a dog sandwich after a morning firefight.
(chomp chomp chomp)
"Hey buddy, pass the wine."
Hubby's addicted to ebay. He's gotten some pretty cool German harmonicas with his last name on them. I'll be sure to tell him to stay away form the silver (and strange beams of light), though. ;)
Sorry, I can't give advice on German silver. And I don't know what you're going to do with it? Perhaps have it melt down, formed into crucifixes and sell for some religious organization?
Saint Billy. Yes, it has a nice ring to it.
LMAO! That was fkn AWESOME.
yellowdog - i like gold!
bill - i got more loonies than brains but i'd rather have paper money. a pocket full of those things is a pain in the neck. some for our feckin toonies.
jayne - right now it's a little addictive but i hope to tire of it soon.
kelly - yes, saint billy does have a nice ring to it. there'd probably be a few tax benefits too. those guys get away with murder.
galt - yup, awesomes are us.
You didn't say what you though of losing your Sears store.
galt - yup, awesomes are us.
Tis a good thing being as he isn't.
Coins are fine if you're a collector, but very tricky as an investment. Walking around with a metal detector might be safer than trying to make a killing on e-Bay!
bill - the sears closing in vancouver is a large department store in the expensive downtown core. it was an eaton's that went bankrupt and sears bought the lease now they're selling the lease. a great location but not for a department store.
gb - i don't collect coins, i collect shiny stuff.
I like Sears but haven't bought anything from them for years.
I would never buy anything like metals or jewelry online. Makes me wonder how many Emeralds our friend bought are just broken up 7-Up bottles?
Just after Obama was elected there were some commemorative inaugural coins advertised on TV. What was odd about them was that they were in color! Some local guy got on the news as soon as he received his coins... they were ordinary quarters with printed paper stickers on them.

Sorry to hear the bad news about the Iron Maiden. Hope she can be salvaged. Have a good one, BP.
I don't buy coins or metals... that's the man's thing. I'm sure that I will get screwed if I use ebay so I don't do that either. Sigh.
Good job reading the fine print and checking up on things.
robert - there are lots of legit sites that sell coins at great prices. jewelery, that's another story.
mr shife - i'm torn between getting the iron maiden rebuilt or buying a new bike. a new one makes financial sense but i have a slight emotional attachment to the iron maiden.
silly - i've was truly smart, i would have read the fine print before buying. live and learn.
These guys have never ripped me off http://www.midasresources.com/
I just wish I could have bought a whole bunch, I got a few Walking Liberty Half Dollars for $8.00 each and now they are $19.19, if I could have gotten a million of those bad boys.
Are you eagerly await delivery of a Marihuanazigarette?
A clown horn for your bike.
