friday morning i rode my bike to the supermarket and bought a few bags of groceries then headed to the park to check out the hunt for the snakehead fish and the genocide of about 20 peace loving turtles. there were lots of government employees at the park getting ready for the big moment and a few people concerned about the turtles and koi. there were also about 30 spectators. i think there were 2 turtle rescue groups there but they weren't getting much cooperation from the deadly reptile hunters.
i rode my bike over the staging area and went down the hill behind the yellow protective tape and parked myself at water's edge. a few minutes later a female parks board employee came and asked me to move. i asked her for identification and under what law was i required to move. she very nicely asked me to move again and i said no. a few minutes later a male parks board employee came over and asked me to move. again i asked for identification and what law i was breaking. he was very nice but i refused to move. i told him that i would move if the official conservation officer came over and had a chat with me. the conservation officer came over and the son of a bitch had a gun. he was polite and again i asked for identification and under what law was i required to move from a public park. he gave me a nasty look and told me to move at which point i took out my camera and took a few pictures of his gun. this did not make him any friendlier.
he left and came back with his boss. the boss was a young guy and after a few minutes i asked to be arrested. he was surprised and asked me why. i told him it would be an honor to BE arrested for trying to save a few turtles. he said i was not going to get arrested unless i did something real stupid like jump in the water and endanger the guys looking for the snakehead. if it had been a hot sunny day i might have jumped in the water but it was cold and wet plus i had 2 bags of groceries hanging from my handlebars. he told me that there were ongoing discussions about saving the turtles and again asked me to leave. then it started to rain. the rain got very heavy and i decided to leave.
what disappointed me the most was the other turtle advocates didn't come to my aid or join me in my little protest. i guess most turtle lovers are peaceful and have too much respect for authority. as i rode away i yelled "five bucks on the fish" as if to say the frankenfish was smarter than the government stooges.
here's the dork with the gun:
and here's the fish and turtle catchers:
there are a lot more details to my little adventure but i don't anyone is interested enough to read anymore on this subject.
i love you sons of bitches.

can anyone guess what childish moron had his comment deleted?
I'm glad they got the frankenfish. Sorry you were not able to be amicably arrested. They could have been a bit more cooperative!
I do hope the turtles were saved and the koi too. Governments are not very kind. =:(
I think they took this invasive species thing too far. Next it will be the horses and cattle! Sheesh.
I'm way more interested in the turtle saga than any filth coming out of BBC's sick, bitter mind.
I hope they weren't euthanized.
Wait a minute. They killed everything else to get one damn snakehead fish? One???!!
This time of year around here one don't see many turtles but later on they'll be on floating logs sunning them self...But bring up grizzly bears and caribou that will get good debate going and I'm being polite...coffee is on.
I admire you for doing this alone, but you really needed a comrade to film everything on a camcorder. When men in authority know they're being filmed it rattles them. They look especially bad if they shout "stop filming".
silly - the turtles are reported as having been saved. i'd like to return them to the pond, late at night of course.
leslie - yes, they were killing everything that wasn't native to the pond. most of the spectators seemed to think that if you were against killing the turtles they you were also against killing the frankenfish.
gb - a comrade would have been nice. i can't understand why more people weren't up in arms over this.
In response to the Silverback, billy pilgrim said,
"......i can't understand why more people weren't up in arms over this......"
Canadians are willing to go to great lengths to protest injustice as long as they do not have to go to any great lengths to do so.
In the post, billy pilgrim intoned,
"....i told him it would be an honor to BE arrested for trying to save a few turtles....."
Perhaps mentioning a cream pie would have helped? Then again, perhaps you were not wearing clean underwear and that would have been embarrassing. Yes?
".....the conservation officer came over and the son of a bitch had a gun....."
Although I am not able to confirm if the Conservation Officer was a 'son-of-a-bitch', or indeed a 'dork', I can pronounce on why he would be in possession of a sidearm.
When you fucking Canadians stop hitting, but not outright killing, various large fauna with your SUVs, the authorities will no longer need to carry efficient euthanasia devices.
".....then it started to rain. the rain got very heavy and i decided to leave......"
Dear oh dear!
If you are dismayed, and willing to abandon your righteous protest, by a heavy rain I dare not query you regarding how you would react to the ever-present American War era cluster munitions my tutor and I must 'accommodate' when we engage in our righteous protests in Lao PDR each winter.
Gotta do something to use up the budget, or there won't be more where that came from...
So let's drain the pond and kill the china-fish.
Your debt-financed government in action.
Good for you!
aquarian - chretien is my all time favorite canadian politician. tossing a cream pie at jean is treasonous.
i'm a finely tuned machine and can't afford to get my gears wet. rust never sleeps.
thims - with the price of oil falling we won't be able to drain any more ponds in the near future.
bob - now i'd like to sneak those turtles back into the lake but the rescue people are quite picky about whom they give the turtles to.
Way to stand up to the man!
Too bad the other turtle people didn't help you out.
tex - i guess most turtle lovers are peaceful gentle souls. say hi to bob for me.
frankenspirit - i'll keep deleting your comments until grow up and give me a genuine apology. until then please refrain from leaving childish and obscene comments.
if i was a total chicken shit pansy afraid of a few cyber insults i'd turn off the comments.
who do we know that turns off his comment and pouts?
don't get me started on BBC, and I'd rather hear about the turtles and the assholes..
yellowdog - i apologize for allowing him to spread his venom and ignorance but i thought he might have a shred of decency. i was wrong.
It's a bit odd BBC is the one exhibiting the exact behavior he's always accusing me of. A bit odd meaning "totally fucking predictable". Sick bastard. So mentally unhealthy and eaten up with hate.
And why exactly does owning a BMW incite such nastiness?
Lemme guess....not so fuel efficient? -Unlike his frankencamper, and frankenboat, of course.
I don't have much problem with Bavarian Motor works aside from their Nazi past.
But Billy himself has admitted what is wrong with the X5.
I am so very glad to hear that the turtles were saved. Sorry for the Koi. I really like those guys. Someday I hope to have a koi pond of my own.
I have a feeling that others may be slipping turtles back into that pond. Perhaps they laid eggs that survived too. I'd like to think so.
leslie - he's definitely blinded by hatred. considering his misogynistic comments i can only conclude that he's either a latent homosexual or has performance problems with women.
thims - maybe he was cut off by a woman driving a bmw years ago?
silly - killing the koi was the most insane thing they did. there's another lake about a kilometer away that's connected by a small stream and it's full of koi but they aren't killing those koi because of the cost of draining the lake. the baby kois will certainly make their way into the lake that was drained and without turtles to feed on the young koi they will flourish.
Even though I think Thimscool is an incredibly poor judge of character for ever thinking you were worth a shit (or perhaps he's just eternally hopeful), I doubt he's raising stupid kids.
And seeing as how your own kids want nothing to do with you, I doubt they're stupid either.
Your constant sophomoric sexual commentary is a pretty good indicator you're impotent. It happens, you know. No need to be so angry.
BMW wasn't any more nazi that General Motors.
And they build better machines.
That hatter wouldn't have any trouble with nazis anyhow.
That's righ; hatter.
hugh - any chance you could slap some sense in mr cook?
A large number of forced laborers eventually were used in factories that produced weapons and other goods that supported the German war effort. Many private companies, such as I. G. Farben and Bavarian Motor Works (BMW), which produced automobile and airplane engines, eagerly sought the use of prisoners as a source of cheap labor.
For example.
I don't get it? What's the problem with prisoners working?
So I'm a poor judge of character, Leslie?
You were the one that actually introduced me to BBC (against my protests that he was an old crank) and you jokingly described him as your septuagenarian boyfriend.
Here's some character judgement for you: I think that you fostered this drama, and I have witnessed you playing this sport before. You have a distinctly non-zen tendency to enjoy producing dread and suffering in others.
You don't generally exercise this talent, because you would be ostracized; but when you've identified someone as your new chew toy, you can't resist the lure of torment. I think you actually enjoyed publicly asserting that BBC is impotent. You're like that nurse in One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest.
BBC is no saint, and he can be an ass at times, but he is actually a fountain of information if you have the ears to hear it (and as long as Leslie isn't around). And aside from his own tendency to like to bedevil folks, he is a good and honest man.
It saddens me that he's not savvy enough to deal with Leslie's net and trident, and that he resorted to hiding under the covers and flinging feces. I'm particularly disappointed that he is prone to attack folks that are basically friendly to him, like Billy here.
No question, BBC needs to get thicker skin with his friends, and learn to ignore folks that he can't stand. And he needs to stop antagonizing people, dammit.
Will he do that? I don't know. But it's not like he shot anyone's dog, so I'm not gonna write him off as being worthless based on the fact that he's being a dick right now.
My approach is to just move on and hope he sorts it out.
The problem was not so much the meager compensation that BMW paid these workers (which was confiscated by the SS anyway)... rather the problem I have is the way that BMW managers observed the condition of these workers, and had to know that they were mistreated. They had to know how these people became prisoners, which was also a grave injustice.
The most charitable thing I can say about companies that that used concentration camp prisoners to support the Nazi war machine is that perhaps they thought that they just had to go along to get along, and they did not instigate the injustice.
But that's a pathetic excuse for complicity, as any good judge of character would know.
pilgrim-
He's got plenty of sense, he just enjoys aggravating folks.
I like turtles. I tried eating real turtle soup once but I couldn't because it got snappy at me- so I left it on the table.
And I like the fact that you were trying to stand up for what you thought was right. I would have like to have seen you go into the water but, hey, when you have two heavy bags of goodies hangin' from your bars, what can ya do?
Keep the faith!
kelly - thank you for getting the turtle saga back on track. (but i do find turtle soup to be offensive)
thims - i'm on the cusp of deleting your ode to billy cook. he throws a tantrum if anyone criticizes him on this blog but shows absolutely no respect for other people's blogs. i tolerated his lewd and despicable comments for a long time but all things must pass. if he apologizes and promises to behave, he can come back. until then i consider him persona non grata and wish to stop making him the center of attention.
Your blog, your rules. Go ahead and delete it.
But I did not make BBC the center of attention.
Net and trident? Dread and suffering? Thimscool, did you just call me Poseidon? Me likey!
Here's the thing.....an "honest man" would not leave nasty comments here regarding a reader who does not even partake in the "feces flinging", and then, when called out on it, lie and say I stole his moniker and did it.
A "good man" would not call your very young daughter "a future cocksucker", or insult Billy because of his garden gnome and wife's choice of car. It's not even comedic banter, it's just bad behavior. Both of you have always tried to befriend him. Thing is, he's an equal opportunity hater.
I said you're hopeful. You seem to want or need to find redeeming qualities in those that have none.
And I never said I was Zen.
That's true... you are a scorpio through and through.
I'm not sure what you're talking about regarding stealing monikers... and I haven't read anything that BBC posted here before it was deleted, so I can't really evaluate how nasty it was.
As I said, he can certainly be full flared hemorrhoid at times. But you have come to the campfire with a flamethrower, to mix a metaphor. You seem to delight in his outbursts of Tourrettes! It's disturbing.
Whatever. The host has asked us to move on, so that's all I'll say about it.
does the old reprobate have tourettes syndrome? i'm more inclined to think he has an alcohol problem. most of his venom comes in the evening so i'm assuming a lot of his infantile behavior is alcohol fueled.
i see the common bond of survivalist paranoia between thims and bbc. both would delight in the seeing the world fall apart to prove them right.
I certainly don't want the world to fall apart but I'm afraid we're overdue.
Nothing would make me happier than to learn I'm wrong about that, but I'll plan for the worst and hope for the best.
Out of curiosity, did BBC say anything worse to you than calling him a coward, a repressed homosexual, or impotent?
does he suffer from tourettes syndrome?
I am not a doctor, so I couldn't tell you.
I know that I've said things I later regret... and I'm sure I'll do it again.
I suspect that BBC's less likely than most to have that type of regret... maybe a detached prefrontal lobe inflicted by one of his boating accidents.
Anyway, he seems to have some cause to be upset.
there's a word for people with no remorse or regrets, psychopath.
from what i've observed he can be a kind person to those he likes but it has to be on his terms. in fact everything has to be on his terms, he's incapable of walking a mile in another person's shoes.
He seems to be very tied to his perspective, yes.
Say I thought we were talking about turtles and wildlife conservation pigs...
speaking of turtles, they haven't opened the valves to begin filling the pond up yet. there's about a foot of stagnant water and it looks like shit. tomorrow should be the first hot sunny day around here since they ambushed the turtles so i'll be riding up to the park hoping to see a few turtles climbing up on a log to bask. of course if the turtles are smart they'll lay low until this whole snakehead deal blows over.
Miss a little, miss a lot around here!
I hope a few of them escaped and will breed to fight another day.
Down here in Cop Land...I mean USA, they probably laughed if they paid any attention to this at all, but we have a similar issue with something called Asian Carp & Crawfish - both of which are taking over the Great Lakes & Bayou Country (respectly) and both problems could be solved with a chain of restaurants and a fleet of fishing boats.
They ain't GMOs or nothing, just taking over the place...and taste like chicken fried in butter!
