the climate change talks drag on in paris with most world leaders patting each other on the back and saying what a great job they're doing. yeah right.
whilst we in the west are facing carbon taxes those lovely folks in china are CONSTRUCTING 155 NEW COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS. and india is trying her darnedest to catch up. we in north america pat ourselves on the back for stopping new construction of coal fired power plants but we continue to sell coal to china! so it goes.
we hear a lot about climate change but not enough about our dying oceans:

This is something very serious for everyone to think about and not only India and China. The worst perpetrators are countries in the west and it is surprising that all western countries point fingers at other developing countries with a sort of holier than thou attitude. This will not do. Every single country in this world has aggravated the climate change and each one will have to see how to improve the situation. Any country which wants to reduce climate change should start correcting themselves.
The countries which are preaching to other countries like India and China should set an example. Otherwise it will be like pot calling the kettle black.
The world politicians have gathered in Paris to have grand time and enjoy themselves. The fiery speeches have no meaning. Once they get back to their countries everything will go on as usual.

Joseph, I agree with you. My country, America, shows no restraint in its energy use, although it could do without any reduction in its quality of life, and although the Islamic State is a major recipient of the money it spends on oil. It’s simply that there are millions of people here who either deny that climate change is happening, or claim that there’s no reason to think that humans are responsible. This, of course, allows them to feel good about doing nothing.
mr shife - i think earth was the "new planet to colonize" for another race that depleted their home planet. but try as i might, i can't find any credible literature on the theory. i might have to prove it myself.
joseph - i certainly agree with your assessment of the west and our polluting ways. we in the west are a bunch of spoiled brats. i'd say that 90% of westerners who support increased taxation to pay for our past sins expect someone else to pay the tax.
that's what we westerners do. we don't clean up our diet and sedentary lifestyle, we demand that an over burdened health system give us drugs. i don't see many politicians telling diabetics to change their diet and exercise, no they promise drugs for all. and heaven help the politician who tries to take our drugs away.
