everyone needs something to look forward to. for the past month or two i've looked forward to last 20 minutes of my day. first i do a little fishing, then it's 20 minutes of deadwood. this is my 4th time through deadwood and so far i'm enjoying more now than i did the first time through and that's saying a lot!
last night i finished up season 1 and i experienced rapture! after the usual violence and foul language some beautiful light piano came on as al swearengen looked down at the characters in his bar. i thought that was it but a real treat followed. doc dancing with jewel! it was the perfect ending to season 1, something totally beautiful and touching. i would not have experienced rapture without enhanced music. if anyone is watching tv without a decent sound system, you're missing the best part.
in other tv news, i finished seson 4 of true blood earlier this week and i'm pretty sure that's it for me. it's just become a little too crazy for me. a bunch of crazy vampires was cool but with witches, werewolves, werepanthers, shifters, fairies and whatever else i've forgotten it's turned into a feckin comic book. but i still love the theme song.
i watched the first episode of boss with kelsey grammer and loved it. it might have been the opening music that caught my fancy; satan your kingdom must come down by robert plant. and kelsey grammer makes an excellent villain.
i started watching the pilot of terra nova and thought it was a piece of shit but things picked up when the nogoodnik dinosaurs showed up. it might have potential.
i'm looking forward to hell on wheels. westerns rock!
i love you sons of bitches.

That is one of my favorite scenes from Deadwood.
I haven't been watching as much TV as I used to do. I gave up on True Blood about at the same point. It just got out of hand and the plot was too thick.
I haven't seen Boss yet. I'll have to check it out.
Hell on Wheels? I don't know about it. Time to cruise the net, I guess.
silly - not watching as much tv as you used to do? you should go see a doctor and get that taken care of.
I'm afraid Terra Nova is going mire itself in uninteresting political subplots and silly ass teenage longing. The environment is the thing-- work it! I'm still a major True Blood fan but your criticism is valid. Neither Boss nor Boardwalk engaged me. Hell on Wheels is so far engaging.
Kelsey Grammer was a villain? He'll always be Frasier Crane to me - the kind of guy you'd like to see get his pants pulled off by a gang of lap-dancers.
bob - the teenage/family soap opera and the doctor wife with the cop husband put me off in the first half hour. it was like a video game, same old stuff with different graphics.
gb - kelsey has turned the tables. he'll be the one pulling off the ladies pants in boss.
I need to go back and rewatch deadwood again too..I miss Calamity Jane...one of the reasons I love Sons of Anarchy is so many of the Deadwood actors are in it. I like Boardwalk but missed the first season so need to get caught up. I won't watch Boss because I can't stand Kelsey Grammer, fucking nut case, womanizer, republican asshole..sigh*..
I like terra nova for all of the reasons you like a tv show..it's entertaining and fun. waiting for Touch to come out..
You should try Weeds, if you haven't already. (Unless it gets unfairly stopped and profiled and hassled at your border like everything else American).
Jaysus fcuking Krist, and I thought I was the one that needed to git a fecking life!
Fwappers
yellowdog - clamity jane showed came back to deadwood in the first episode of season 2. her returning might make up for all the bullshit between bullock and alma garret.
leslie - i've seen the first 4 seasons of weeds and enjoyed them but like most series it got a little stale for me.
hugh - is there a higher calling than studying deadwood??
True Blood HAS gotten Bat-Shit Crazy. Pretty sure I'm done with it too.
I can't watch any show that doesn't stream on Netflix since I don't have TV any more. But I have been enjoying "Lie to Me."
Fishing? For rats?
I haven't watched most of the things you talk about.
heff - yeah, that theme song can only carry it so far.
secret - lie to me? sounds interesting.
bill - other than deadwood, you're not missing much.
Ha! He just keeps telling me to put the lime in the coconut.
I do love the theme to True Blood! Forgot to tell you that.
As for watching more TV, I could if the man would leave me alone... but wait! I like that about him. =;]
BATTLE OVER BALLS
silly - wow, forever young!
bill - $445 for plastic bull balls hanging down?
you live in a pretty fucked up puritanical country!
It is - Lie to Me is about an agency that reads micro-expressions on people's faces to solve cases. Sounds a little strange, but it's very interesting.

There's no churches in Canada?
We watched the first season of "Deadwood"; I loved it but my wife was less enthused. We just got a Roku box and I was disappointed to find it was not among the streaming content, so I am going to need to get the DVD's in the mail to finish the series. I may end up watching it myself.
However, we found we could stream "Mad Men", and my wife seems to be hooked already.
bill - we have churches but our politicians don't pander to religion.
robert - i think season 1 was the best but i guess it's that way with most series.
I guess your politicians are smarter than ours, ours will do anything to get votes.
I think Bob's assessment of Tera Nova is about right.
Personally I can't stand the egomaniac leader of the place, I want to see a dinosaur have him for lunch, that would be great.
For the last couple of months, I've been falling at dusk into whatever streamed series I can bear to watch (Doc Martin, Lie To Me, George Gently) in an effort to escape...um, avoid...gosh, just EVERYTHING! Aging, aching, national and international woes and worries. Not good for me and I'm shocked, but there it is.
bill - i don't think our politicians are any smarter. we just don't have as many religious zealots voting in blocs.
tex - the shannon family makes me want to puke. me and ruby always cheer for the dinosaurs.
nance - it looks like i'm gonna give lie to me a viewing. the international news is giving me the willies these days.
I liked it and really it is so interesting and wonderful information, too!
