Mind you, I know next to shit about speaker systems, but it seems to me like a good speaker would be mounted in a very simple frame that is open in the front and the back.
About four inches from a back wall that would bounce the sound at the back of the speaker back toward the whole room.
Maybe something like a tile wall, but like I said, I know next to shit about that stuff.

It seems to me like good speakers wouldn't weigh much. But high density particle board is heavy, some presto logs I buy are eight pounds.
